When I returned to Gerard Dombroski’s workshop, I treated my time there as a residency. Gerard had been using fibreglass as a mould for casting some of his work. As I spent time prepping the fibreglass for casting, I began to realise the material had unique characteristics that often seem to be hidden or not displayed in the final product.
The flanges and wingnuts were chosen to represent the material’s common usage, bringing focus to its industrial qualities, while also creating shapes that feel more like an Italian race car.
